Water Damage Repair and Restoration

Flooding in Monroe County has been a recurring problem. Thankfully the flooding is usually nothing more than a few inches of water in the basement in comparison to floods that carry away acres of land and hundreds of homes in other places around the country. However, in recent years the International Joint Commission has decided to adjust the regulation of water flow, leading to different flood patterns and water levels along the lakefront.

In 2017, the entire lake water level was roughly 2 inches higher. This may not seem like a lot of water, but this 2 inches is the culmination of 7,320 square miles, and when the wind blows south in the Winter and Spring, the water can end up flooding the natural watershed around the lake, which stretches up to 24,720 square miles. That's not an easy area to avoid. As the International Joint Commission continues their plans for controlled water damage Monroe County and other lakefront inhabitants can expect increased flooding for the next few years to come.

SERVPRO of NW Monroe County is anticipating increases in unfortunate flooding, and likely an increase in the rate of occurrences, but we'll be ready!
